The Triple Loop, has 3 loops placed at each corner of the extension.
To attach the extension we are going to be pulling sections of the horse's tail through each loop and braiding.
Measure approximately 3-6 inches up from the bottom of your horse's tail bone so that the top leather portion rests against the horse’s tail bone.
You want the extension to fall to the fetlock area so move the extension up if needed, instead of cutting the length.
Part your horse’s tail hair and pull the upper hairs of the horse's tail up and out of the way.
You can have and assistant place their hand on the hair to hold it out of the way or secure with bands or clips.
Next, in the center of your horse’s tail bone pick up 3 small sections of hair.
Thread the center section of hair through the top loop of the extension.
Make sure that the extension is laying flat and snug against the tail bone.
Now tightly braid the sections together. You only need to braid down 2-3 inches, then secure with a rubber band.
Note: If your horse's tail is clean and silky it is helpful to use
a braid/banding spray (like quick braid) or hair gel.
Doing this will help the hair to grab and keep your braids tight.
This is especially important if you are using a weighted extension.
Next, move down the RIGHT side of the extension to the next loop.
Pick up a lock of hair from your horse's tail and divide that into 3 small sections.
Thread the center section of hair through the RIGHT side loop of the extension pulling the extension snug up against the tail bone.
Now tightly braid together and rubber band.
Next go to the LEFT side of the tail bone and repeat the process.
Doing these 2 braids will keep your Tail Extension from swinging side to side
Lastly, drop your upper hair back down and gently brush.
The first time you attach the extension stand to the side and have someone slowly back the horse. If the tail starts to drag the ground STOP.
Move the extension higher up the so that the horse can back without stepping on the extension.
Extension Care
All tails are 100% Natural Horse Hair and should be
shampooed and conditioned regularly.
Blow dry and fluff your extension to give it a full look.
To remove knots use your fingers or gently brush, DON’T PULL, your tail extension.
Do not leave your tail extension attached overnight.
Remove the extension after your day of competition is complete.
With the Tie-in style, you may leave your braided section in overnight.
However, the next day prior to attaching your extension be sure to check that the braid is still snug.
To maintain the health of your horse’s tail, it is important that you remove the braided section at the end of the show weekend.
